Rosary feast: at Cana, Our Lady says 'Do whatever he tells you'

Cana is the one mystery of light in which the Blessed Virgin Mary speaks, and Pope St. John Paul II called her word her counsel to the Church of every age.

Giotto's fresco of the wedding at Cana: a long table in a loggia, with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary, both haloed, seated at the left and right of the table, and large stone water jars in the foreground, with a servant pouring from one.
The Marriage at Cana, a fresco by Giotto painted between 1304 AD and 1306 AD in the Scrovegni Chapel, Padua, shows the Blessed Virgin Mary beside the wine steward's table at the wedding feast.

The Church keeps the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary today. At the wedding at Cana, the second of the Rosary's mysteries of light, the Blessed Virgin Mary told her Son the wine had run out and told the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.' Pope St. Paul VI closed a letter on devotion to Mary with those words, and Pope St. John Paul II called them her counsel to the Church of every age.

St. Francis Xavier sails to pearl fishers baptised but never taught

Saint Francis Xavier left Goa by sea this month for the Fishery Coast at the southern tip of India, where the Paravas lived by fishing for pearls. About twenty thousand of them had been baptised some eight years earlier to win Portuguese protection in a feud with Muslim traders, and no priest had stayed to teach them. He did not speak their language and took young clerics from that coast to interpret.
